Original Notecards and Books to Inspire and Encourage
This company has been a very long time in the making and honestly, it will continue to be forever fluid. In its present form, Melly’s Cards of Note, brings together two of my artistic endeavors in an attempt to share them with a much wider audience. My notecards developed over a very long period of time as a by-product of years of taking and sharing hundreds of photographs. My first book, Roxboro Roots: North Carolina Families Leave Their Imprint on America’s Story, was published in 2019 and I self published my second book, The Heavens Declare the Glory of God in 2025.
About the Artist/Author
About the Artist/Author
My name is Melvina Frances Jones. I am a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Professor Emerita of European History, Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California. I grew up in Los Angeles and earned my BA and MA in History at California State University, Los Angeles.
I completed my education at the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning my doctorate in history with a specialization in the Second World War in France. I have spent a great deal of time in France teaching and researching in my area of expertise, as well as photographing some of the most beautiful scenes in Europe.
After having taught for many years in the Los Angeles area and along California’s beautiful central coast, including one year at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I came to Cosumnes River College in 1989 as the Dean of Humanities/Social Sciences. After three years, I decided to return to my natural calling and professional passion, finishing my career in the classroom, helping to educate the wonderful students served by CRC.
I am very happy and grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to enjoy retirement after thirty-five years in the classroom and administration. I am very active in the outreach ministries of my church, Mount Zion Church of Ontario, and I enjoy photography and playing the piano.
